Event Details

The School of Women and Gender Studies (SWGS) is implementing the second phase of the Gender Equality Project (GEP) funded by the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF). The GEP is implemented in partnership with the University Forum on Governance (UNIFOG), a Public Policy Think Tank that aims to harness the outstanding expertise of universities and academics in contributing to development in Uganda and Africa. The project (GEP) aims to contribute towards the upholding of pro-gender equality legislation in Uganda through research, capacity building and mobilising the participation of marginalised communities.

During the first phase of the project, a toolkit for gender equality results, indicators and measurement was developed https://gep.ug/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/The-Gender-Equality-Toolkit.pdf. This provides a complete package on gender equality results, indicators and measurement beginning with the provision of the holistic understanding of gender equality, the gender concepts and norms to planning, implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation of the gender equality.

The SWGS now seeks to develop an education sector-specific toolkit on gender equality results, indicators and measurements. This is envisaged to unpack the main toolkit developed in the first phase of the project to provide education sector-specific frameworks for gender equality planning, results, indicators and measurement. The toolkit will also provide education sector actors with the information and guidelines for the deepening of gender equality through education and to deal with the gender-based challenges facing the sector including sexual harassment, differences in access and enrolments, the performance of affirmative action among others.

The SWGS and UNIFOG are now calling for expressions of interest from interested candidates for this assignment. Candidates may bid as individuals or as a consortium. See the Call for Expression of Interest here: Development of Education Sector-Specific Toolkit for Gender Equality in Uganda

Deadline for receiving expressions of interest: 10th June 2020
