Call For Applications for Master’s Degree at Makerere University Under the IDRC-CLARE

Project – WOSFER

Climate Adaptation and Resilience Initiative (CLARE) Uganda research project entitled: “Building Women Smallholder Farmers’ Empowerment and Adaptive Capacities: A Pathway to enhancing women’s Resilience to Climate Change in Uganda (WOSFER),” is a collaboration between Makerere University School of Women and Gender Studies and the Association of Uganda Professional Women in Agriculture, and the Environment.

The project, supported by IDRC and the UK’s FCDO, seeks to recruit 2 MA students at the School of Women and Gender Studies to enhance their capacity in gender transformative research in agriculture and climate change adaptation.

The MA students are expected to support project implementation, conduct literature reviews, conduct research, participate in consultations, undertake online courses, publish scientific manuscripts, present research at conferences, and disseminate findings. They will also participate in CLARE working groups and meetings and support the project team in other tasks assigned by the Principal Investigator.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants must be Ugandan, graduate or prospective student of the School of Women and Gender Studies. Have a minimum CGPA of 3.6 at bachelor’s, a master’s admission letter, and for those already enrolled on MA, results for the first year CGPA of 4.0. Project experience is a plus.

TIME LIME
This is a three-year project that began in May 2023 and will end in June 2026. The candidates are expected to finish their Master’s degrees within 2 years of commencement of graduate studies.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • A one-page letter addressed to the principal investigator.
  • Updated curriculum vitae.
  • Relevant academic certificates and transcripts.
  • A national identification card.
  • A brief MA concept describing the research idea, background,
    problem,
    hypotheses/theory,
    objectives, design, and timelines for completion.
  • Additionally, send two letters of recommendation from an academic supervisor, including their email address and phone number.

Deadline for submission is, 15th April, 2024 at 5.00pm.
