THE EASTERN AFRICA LEARNING COLLABORATIVE SMALL GRANTS
On 14th and 15th June 2023, the East African Learning Collaborative (EALC) held a conference under the theme, ‘Digitization and Technology Impact on Gender and Social Norms’. The conference forms part of the second phase of the EALC Project that is co-implemented by Care-Uganda and the School of Women and Gender Studies at Makerere University. The conference brought together stakeholders from the Government, academia, Civil Society, to share knowledge and best practices from the various fields on the theme (mentioned above). The conference was a blended one and had both physical and online representation from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia. Among the outcomes of the conference was the need for increased collaboration across sectors as well as the centering of gender and social norms in an increasingly digitalized world in the move towards gender transformation.
